Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know what design package is best for my project?
The Editor: E-design offers an affordable and convenient way to hire an interior designer who curates a space you have always dreamed of. You receive all the tools you need to bring the design from the computer to reality in your space and at your own pace! This package is best for clients who are confident in executing the designer recommendations in their home.
The Concierge: Let us take the hassle and time consuming process of shopping and styling your space out of your hands so you can relax and spend more time doing the things you love! The concierge offers you everything in The Editor package but includes the added luxury of having a designer custom select pieces (not just limited to online retailors) and intentionally place the pieces in your home for a truly catered experience.
The Tailor Made: This package is best for those who are interested in a larger project that may involve electrical planning, renovations, and simple project management. We can work with your contractors to communicate time frames, design details, material selections, and more.
What should I expect for the design services fee?
A virtual design portfolio for 1 room (“The Editor”) typically starts between $700-800. We start each design with an initial consultation so we can get a better idea of the client’s goals and vision for the space. Once the meeting concludes, the designer will organize an estimate based on the time required to develop the design portfolio. Design service pricing does not include furnishings and decor which would be invoiced separately and customized to the client’s budget.
What is a "standard room" design?
A standard room design includes a color pallet, mood board, room rendering, layout recommendations, styling guides, an itemized buying list, lighting package, written specifications, and ongoing client correspondence, all presented in a custom design portfolio. Further design services depend on the package the client selects.
A standard room design does not include the following: (1) open concept spaces (this will be priced separately), (2) buying guide for specific small accessories beyond a set number of items (for example: bookshelf styling - while the designer will provide guidance and product links to select products, we would not provide a link to 25 different items for one book shelf). The standard room design does not include the selection of custom furniture or the selection of custom window treatments which would only be options for the Concierge and Tailor Made packages.
What separates Forest 37 from other e-design services?
While popular luxury brands offer e-designs services, clients are often limited to that brand's inventory and ready-made mood boards. Our clients who have tried these services out prior to using Forest 37 have often shared that they felt unheard, design recommendations were not cohesive with their home, or that 1:1 rapport between the client and the designer is often lacking. At Forest 37, making a personal connection to you, your family's needs for the space, and involving you in the design process from start to finish are the cornerstones to the designs we create, and this is what keeps our clients coming back for more!
How long does the process take from start to finish?
This depends on the scope of work and the package that the client chooses. A standard 1 room e-design portfolio (The Editor) typically takes 2-3 weeks.
I haven't really thought of a budget yet. What should I expect?
Developing a budget (not including design services) is important to establish from the start because it allows Forest 37 designs to source products efficiently and intentionally. As a guide, plan to spend $3,500 minimum (low to mid-end pieces) to finish a small living room with furniture, wall art, mirrors, rug, lighting, and tables. For example, many living rooms that you see on Pinterest are in the $8,000-$10,000 range or more.
